UPM Reinforces SpectraBREAST with Two New Computational Scientists

We are happy to announce that two researchers (PhD students) from the Artificial Intelligence Lab (LIA) at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Enrique Pérez and Lucía León-Prieto, have recently joined the SpectraBreast consortium under the supervision of Professor Alfonso Rodríguez-Patón.

Enrique is an experienced developer, with a background knowledge in both software engineering and data science. He will create advanced models using Raman spectroscopy and hyperspectral imaging to improve breast tumor specimen classification. His expertise in these cutting-edge technologies will significantly enhance our diagnostic capabilities and contribute to more accurate cancer tissue detection methods. Lucía will support the team with her experience in computational modelling, simulation, and biomedical data analysis. Her contribution will complement the group’s efforts in integrating data-driven methods into the project.

Both Enrique and Lucía have previously worked on interdisciplinary projects at the interface of biomedical research, data science and simulation, and their incorporation into SpectraBreast reinforces the project’s commitment to applying advanced computational methods to clinically relevant challenges.

We are delighted to welcome them to the team and look forward to the new perspectives and skills they will bring to the project.
